The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced the beta version of its redesigned ticket booking website, offering a faster, cleaner and more user-friendly experience for passengers. Launched on July 15, 2026, the upgraded portal aims to simplify online train ticket booking, particularly during high-demand periods such as Tatkal reservations.

One of the most noticeable improvements is the redesigned homepage, which features a streamlined layout with fewer distractions. The simplified interface allows users to search for trains, book tickets and access railway services more easily without navigating through cluttered menus.

The revamped platform has also been optimised to reduce page load times and speed up the reservation process. IRCTC has removed unnecessary pop-ups, excessive graphics and repetitive CAPTCHA checks, making the booking experience smoother and less time-consuming.

Navigation has been improved with reorganised menus, enabling passengers to quickly find train schedules, booking options, cancellations and other essential services. The website has also been designed to handle heavy booking traffic more efficiently, helping improve the reliability of Tatkal ticket reservations.

According to Indian Railways, the new portal is being integrated with the Passenger Reservation System (PRS), allowing it to process a higher number of simultaneous bookings while enhancing overall system performance.

As the website is currently in its beta phase, passengers can explore the new interface and share feedback while the existing IRCTC website continues to operate alongside it. The feedback received during this period will help fine-tune the platform before its full public rollout.

IRCTC, which launched its online ticket booking service in 2002, now handles an average of around 14.5 lakh ticket bookings every day. The latest redesign is part of Indian Railways’ broader initiative to modernise its digital services and provide a faster, more reliable booking experience for millions of travellers.
