Nestlé India has dismissed allegations of infestation in MAGGI noodles, saying independent laboratory tests found the product compliant with food safety standards
June 12, 2026: Nestlé India has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media regarding the alleged presence of insects or larvae in MAGGI noodles. The company said the claims originated from an unverified social media account and that it was unable to establish contact with the complainant. Nestlé stated that it had conducted internal quality checks and shared all relevant records with authorities to address the concerns.
According to the company, samples from the concerned batch as well as products available in the market were tested by an FSSAI-accredited laboratory. The results reportedly confirmed that the product met all prescribed quality and food safety standards and showed no signs of infestation. Nestlé emphasized that it follows strict manufacturing, quality control and food safety protocols and remains fully transparent in its dealings with regulatory authorities.
Meanwhile, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notice to Nestlé India after receiving a complaint alleging contamination in a packet of MAGGI noodles. The regulator has sought a detailed Action Taken Report, including information on quality testing, supplier records and corrective measures. The development impacted investor sentiment, with Nestlé India shares falling more than three percent during Friday’s trading session as the inquiry continues.
