The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded an FIR against filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his production house Bhansali Productions following the death of a 42-year-old carpenter, Chandradhari Singh Yadav, on the set of the upcoming film Love & War in Mumbai. The association has also sought ₹1 crore compensation for the deceased worker’s family and called for a high-level investigation into alleged safety lapses on set.
According to reports, the worker allegedly suffered a severe electric shock during early morning shoot preparations on June 17 at a Mumbai studio. AICWA has claimed that the incident highlights serious negligence and violations of workplace safety norms, urging authorities to take strict legal action and ensure accountability.
The association further stated that multiple workers present at the site were also reportedly injured, although the exact condition of those affected and full details of the incident are still under verification. It has raised concerns over the lack of clear safety protocols and supervision during shooting activities.
AICWA has also referenced past incidents on film sets associated with Bhansali Productions, including reported fatalities during earlier films such as Devdas (2000–2001) and Padmaavat, alleging a recurring pattern of safety issues and inadequate enforcement of labour protection standards in large-scale film productions.
The organization has additionally criticized long working hours in the film industry, claiming workers are often subjected to 16–20 hour shifts under high-pressure conditions, increasing the risk of accidents. It has urged stronger regulatory oversight and stricter implementation of safety guidelines across film sets.
As of now, there has been no official response from Bhansali Productions regarding the allegations or the demand for an FIR.
