Director Anees Bazmee is reportedly set to reunite with Kartik Aaryan for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4, continuing his association with one of Bollywood’s most successful horror-comedy franchises. However, the development has not been officially confirmed by the filmmakers or the production house.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Bazmee is expected to return to the director’s chair after successfully helming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024). A source quoted by the publication claimed that discussions are currently underway, with remuneration negotiations yet to be finalised.
The report also stated that producer Bhushan Kumar has already begun working on the basic concept for the fourth instalment and aims to further expand the franchise. Kartik Aaryan is also said to be involved in the early creative discussions and is expected to reprise his popular role as Rooh Baba.
A Successful Franchise
The Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise began in 2007 with the original film directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. Adapted from the Malayalam classic Manichitrathazhu, the psychological horror-comedy became a major box office success.
The franchise returned in 2022 with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, directed by Anees Bazmee and featuring Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu. The sequel emerged as one of the year’s biggest hits and established Kartik’s character, Rooh Baba, as the new face of the series.
In 2024, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 continued the franchise’s success. The film starred Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri and Vidya Balan, who reprised her iconic Manjulika character. Directed by Bazmee, the film performed strongly at the box office and further strengthened the franchise’s popularity.
While an official announcement regarding Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 is still awaited, the latest report has generated excitement among fans eager to see Kartik Aaryan return as Rooh Baba once again.
