Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming military drama Operation Safed Sagar, a series inspired by one of the Indian Air Force’s most significant operations during the 1999 Kargil War. Headlined by Siddharth, the series is set to premiere globally on August 7, 2026, bringing to screens an untold story of courage, sacrifice and determination from one of India’s most challenging wartime missions.
Set against the backdrop of the Kargil conflict, Operation Safed Sagar focuses on the Indian Air Force’s historic air campaign and the Golden Arrows Squadron, whose pilots undertook high-risk missions in the world’s highest battlefield. Rather than concentrating solely on combat, the series explores the personal journeys, friendships and sacrifices of the men and women who played a vital role during the operation.
Directed by Oni Sen and created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava, the series boasts an ensemble cast including Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi. The makers promise a gripping portrayal of the split-second decisions and immense courage required to protect the nation’s borders.
Speaking about the project, Netflix India Series Head Tanya Bami described Operation Safed Sagar as a first-of-its-kind Indian war drama inspired by the Indian Air Force’s role in the Kargil War. She said the series is a tribute to the courage, camaraderie and sacrifice of the Golden Arrows Squadron, offering audiences a rare glimpse into the lives of Air Force pilots and the challenges they face during wartime.
Creators Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Mehboob Pal Singh Brar of Feel Good Films said that while researching the lives of Air Force personnel and their families, they discovered that the story extends far beyond military operations. According to them, the series explores themes of friendship, leadership, sacrifice and the difficult choices made in extraordinary circumstances.
