Comedian Samay Raina has come out in support of India’s Got Latent contestant Sakshi Jha, urging social media users to stop sending her hate following the massive backlash over her controversial “man-hater” remarks. His emotional appeal has sparked a fresh debate online, with netizens split over whether Sakshi deserves empathy or continued criticism.
Taking to Instagram, Samay addressed the wave of memes and trolling targeting Sakshi after her appearance on the show. While acknowledging that internet humour is inevitable, he urged people not to cross the line into personal abuse.
“Sakshi Jha pe bahot zyada memes ban rahe hain. Bas ek request hai yaar, just be kind to her. At the end of the day, it’s Latent. Log aate hain aur kuch bhi bolke chale jaate hain. Stage pe rehna aasan nahi hota. Mujhe bas bura lagta hai ki tum log usko zyada kuch na bolo,” Samay said in the viral video.
He further reminded viewers that there is a real person behind the viral controversy, adding, “Jab tak memes hain, jab tak tum log fun kar rahe ho, that’s good. Bas yaad rakhna ki wahan bhi ek insaan hai. Take this as a chance to spread love and show that men are amazing people too.”
Samay’s statement comes days after Sakshi Jha faced widespread criticism for calling herself a “man-hater” during her audition on India’s Got Latent. While many users condemned her comments as insensitive, others felt the relentless trolling had gone too far.
His message has divided social media. Several users praised the comedian for advocating kindness and empathy, with one writing, “Everyone has some or the other trauma. We should try to understand people instead of spreading hate.” Another commented, “I really respect men… but spreading hate won’t solve anything.”
However, not everyone agreed with Samay’s stance. A section of netizens argued that Sakshi should be held accountable for her remarks. One user wrote, “No, people should let her know that what she said was wrong.” Another added that if the roles had been reversed, the backlash against a male contestant would have been even harsher.
