Actor Urmila Matondkar, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars of the 1990s and early 2000s, made headlines in 2016 when she married Kashmiri businessman and former model Mohsin Akhtar Mir in a private ceremony attended by close family and friends. Mohsin, who hails from Kashmir, is around 10 years younger than the actress.

The couple’s interfaith marriage attracted significant attention on social media, with Mohsin and his family facing abusive online comments. Speaking in an interview in 2020, Urmila revealed that her husband had been subjected to hateful remarks, including being labelled a “terrorist” and a “Pakistani” because of his background.

After nearly eight years together, reports surfaced in 2024 that Urmila had filed for divorce from Mohsin, bringing their marriage to an end.

Before entering business, Mohsin Akhtar Mir worked as a model and appeared in films such as Luck by Chance and B.A. Pass.
