The petition seeks removal of allegedly defamatory content, restraint on future publications

June 8, 2026: Journalist Anjana Om Kashyap and TV Today Network have approached the Delhi High Court seeking legal action against educator Khan Sir and several others over alleged defamatory statements made on social media and digital platforms. The petition seeks the removal of content claimed to be damaging to their reputation, directions preventing similar publications in the future, and compensation of ₹2 crore. The matter is scheduled to be heard by a vacation bench headed by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna.

Apart from Khan Sir, the lawsuit names educators Abhinay Sharma, Babita Tyagi and Arvind Bhadauriya, along with several X accounts and 4PM News Network. According to the petition, the dispute began after a discussion aired on Aaj Tak on May 29, where Kashyap commented on the growing influence of online educators and the commercialisation of the education sector. The plaintiffs maintain that the remarks were part of a legitimate journalistic debate on a matter of public interest.

The suit alleges that between May 30 and June 4, a coordinated online campaign targeted Kashyap and the media network through videos, posts and broadcasts containing derogatory remarks. A key allegation concerns the disclosure of personal information related to Kashyap’s family, which the petition claims raised privacy and security concerns. Filed through advocates Hrishikesh Baruah, Utkarsh Dwivedi and Pragya Agarwal, the plea argues that the campaign harmed the reputation, privacy and well-being of both the journalist and the media organisation.
