Arvind Kejriwal said repeated NEET paper leaks have destroyed students’ trust and urged India’s youth to demand accountability.
May 13, 2026: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday called on India’s Gen Z to raise their voice against the alleged NEET-UG paper leak controversy, saying repeated exam leaks have shattered the confidence of students preparing for competitive examinations. Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal compared the situation to youth-led political movements in neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Nepal, arguing that Indian students also have the power to push for systemic reforms and accountability.
Kejriwal questioned the effectiveness of past Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probes into examination scams, claiming that several previous investigations failed to ensure strict punishment for the accused. He alleged that repeated paper leaks since 2014 had severely affected the future of millions of students and argued that simply transferring the NEET case to the CBI would not automatically resolve the issue. He also claimed that many alleged leaks had occurred in BJP-ruled states, intensifying the political debate surrounding the controversy.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination was cancelled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after allegations surfaced that questions worth nearly 600 marks had leaked before the May 3 test. Investigators later uncovered what officials described as a nationwide cheating network involving coaching centres, impersonators, hostel operators, and paid WhatsApp groups. The controversy has also revived anti-NEET sentiments in Tamil Nadu, where leaders including Kamal Haasan and DMK representatives renewed demands to abolish the examination and restore medical admissions based on Class 12 marks.
