Seven accused were questioned overnight after an FIR was registered over the alleged theft of offerings

June 26, 2026: Police have intensified the investigation into the alleged theft of offerings at the Ayodhya Ram Temple after registering an FIR based on a complaint filed by Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Krishna Mohan. Eight individuals have been named in the case under relevant legal provisions, including anti-corruption laws. According to sources, seven of the accused were taken into custody for questioning and interrogated throughout the night, although no formal arrests have been made so far.

Investigators are examining financial records, witness statements, and other evidence to determine the extent of the alleged misappropriation and whether additional individuals were involved. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will depend on the findings of the inquiry.

The FIR does not name the Trust’s General Secretary Champat Rai or any other member of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. This has triggered political reactions, with opposition leaders questioning both the delay in registering the FIR and the exclusion of senior Trust officials. Authorities have maintained that the investigation will proceed strictly according to legal procedures and available evidence.
