Court recovery records accessed by the media reveal cash, foreign currency and valuables seized from seven accused

July 1, 2026: Exclusive court recovery records accessed by the media have revealed fresh details in the ongoing investigation into the alleged Ayodhya temple offering theft case. According to documents submitted before the court, investigators recorded recoveries from seven of the eight accused, while no recovery was reportedly made from the eighth accused. The records form part of the prosecution’s case and are expected to be examined during the judicial process.

Among the largest recoveries listed in the court documents is the seizure linked to accused Avinash Shukla. Investigators reportedly recovered ₹20,39,220 in cash, along with 1,121 US dollars. The seizure memo also includes a silver-coloured metal item weighing around 159 grams, an eight-gram yellow metal chain and a 3.44-gram yellow metal ring. The documents further state that the recovered property had allegedly been identified before the formal police recovery process, with investigators examining the sequence of events surrounding the recovery and registration of the criminal case.

Authorities are continuing to question the accused regarding the source of the recovered cash and valuables while examining financial records, witness statements and other evidence. The investigation remains ongoing, and the recovery records represent evidence collected during the probe rather than any judicial finding. Under Indian law, every accused person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a competent court, and the final outcome will depend on the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
