Central Board of Secondary Education announces Class 10 results with slight rise in pass percentage and continued strong performance by girls

April 15, 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education has declared the Class 10 board results for 2026, recording a pass percentage of 93.70%, a slight increase from 93.66% last year. Around 24.72 lakh students appeared for the exams out of 24.83 lakh registered, reflecting a participation rate of 99.53%. In total, 23.16 lakh students cleared the exam, marking an increase in both participation and successful candidates compared to 2025.

Girls once again outperformed boys, achieving a pass percentage of 94.99%, while boys recorded 92.69%. Among regions, Trivandrum and Vijayawada topped with 99.79%, followed by Chennai and Bengaluru. In Delhi, the overall pass percentage stood at 97.38%. Additionally, 2.22 lakh students scored above 90%, while over 55,000 students crossed the 95% mark. However, the number of students placed in the compartment category saw a marginal rise to 1.47 lakh.

CBSE maintained its policy of not releasing a merit list to discourage unhealthy competition, though merit certificates will be awarded to the top 0.1% of students. The 2026 batch is among the first to be evaluated under the new two-board-exam system aligned with the National Education Policy, allowing students a second attempt to improve performance. Final results will be compiled after the second examination scheduled from mid-May.
