Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has demanded a judicial inquiry and SIT probe into alleged irregularities in the CBSE digital evaluation process

May 27, 2026: Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded a judicial inquiry and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged irregularities in the CBSE examination evaluation process. In a video message addressed to students and parents, Gandhi accused the government of remaining silent over what he described as “massive tampering” in CBSE results. He questioned the role of Hyderabad-based Coempt Edutech Private Limited in the board’s digital evaluation system and alleged that the company had previously faced controversies under its earlier name, Globarena Technology Pvt Ltd.

Gandhi claimed the same company had been linked to evaluation controversies in Telangana in 2019 and 2023, where large-scale discrepancies in examination results had triggered public outrage. He alleged that despite the company’s past record, CBSE still awarded it the digital evaluation contract for the 2026 board examinations. The Congress leader questioned why background checks were not conducted and asked whether any rules or procedures were bypassed during the tender process. He also accused the Modi government of failing to provide accountability on the matter.

The Central Board of Secondary Education rejected the allegations, calling them misleading and factually incorrect. CBSE said the contract was awarded through a transparent process in accordance with General Financial Rules and government procurement guidelines. According to the board, the Request for Proposal for digital evaluation was floated on the Central Public Procurement portal in August 2025, and the contract was awarded to the qualified bidder after due procedure. Meanwhile, the controversy has intensified after the Odisha Parents’ Federation sought a high-level inquiry into the company’s role, citing earlier examination controversies linked to Globarena in Telangana.
