Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri said Champat Rai is in good health

July 9, 2026: Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri said Champat Rai is in good health and has no resentment following his resignation as the Trust’s General Secretary. Speaking to reporters after meeting Rai, Giri said his visit was primarily to inquire about Rai’s health. He also met several local saints and seers, who, according to him, expressed satisfaction with the Trust’s recent decisions while suggesting further improvements in temple rituals and operational arrangements.

Giri said the Trust has strengthened security and monitoring systems at the donation counting centre following the controversy. After inspecting the facility, he expressed confidence that such incidents would not recur due to the enhanced precautions now in place. He added that the Trust remains committed to improving both administrative processes and the overall management of temple operations.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continued its probe into the alleged donation embezzlement. A local court granted one-day police custody of three accused — Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra and Karunesh Pandey — for custodial interrogation. According to the SIT, CCTV footage reviewed between April 27 and June 5 allegedly captured multiple instances of donation counting staff concealing cash, with around 70 suspected cases of theft or pilferage documented. The investigation has identified six individuals with prima facie involvement based on CCTV evidence, financial records, recovered material and witness statements.
