Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated projects worth over ₹392 crore in Mau while highlighting the state government’s anti-mafia drive

May 29, 2026: Yogi Adityanath on Friday delivered a strong message on law and order during a public event in Mau, warning that anyone attempting to disturb religious events or threaten public safety would face strict action. Speaking at Gandhi Maidan after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹392 crore, the Chief Minister said criminal groups no longer have the confidence to interfere with festivals and religious celebrations in the state.

Without naming anyone directly, Adityanath said those trying to create unrest would “meet the same fate as Ravana and Kansa.” He also spoke about crimes targeting women and traders, claiming that the government’s anti-mafia campaign had transformed the law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh since 2017. Referring to the 2005 communal violence in Mau, the Chief Minister accused previous governments of allowing criminal networks to operate freely and appeasing mafia elements for political reasons.

Along with the political remarks, Adityanath highlighted several development initiatives launched in Mau, including projects related to roads, bridges, drinking water supply, healthcare, education, tourism and police infrastructure. He said the state government had focused on welfare schemes, housing, healthcare and infrastructure growth, and announced that expansion of the Ghosi Sugar Mill and a new medical college in Mau were also under consideration. The Chief Minister urged people to continue supporting the BJP-led “double-engine government,” saying development and improved security had changed the face of Uttar Pradesh.
