The Delhi High Court directed the restoration of the Cockroach Janta Party’s X account after the Centre

July 7, 2026: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered the restoration of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) X account, which had been blocked during the NEET re-examination period. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma passed the order after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the account had been withheld because some posts could have created confusion among students and parents during the re-exam. As the examination has now concluded, the Centre said the concerns no longer remained, prompting the court to revoke the blocking order.

The CJP, which began as a satirical platform, gained widespread popularity following the cancellation of the NEET examination over the alleged paper leak. Its X account was withheld in India in May after the platform reportedly received a valid request from an authorised authority. The group later launched a new account, ‘Cockroach Is Back’, and has continued posting updates through it.

The organisation has also been actively involved in protests demanding accountability over the NEET paper leak. It has organised demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Activist Sonam Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike over the issue also continued, while CJP members participated in student protests in Maharashtra. The group says it aims to build an independent youth-led movement to raise students’ concerns and hold the government accountable.
