July 23, 2026: The Delhi High Court will hear a public interest litigation (PIL) on Friday alleging that the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)‘s ‘Chalo Parliament’ march was backed by foreign funding and infiltrated by anti-social elements. The plea comes after thousands of students joined the July 20 protest demanding accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak. The demonstration ended in clashes after police used batons to disperse protesters, leaving several students and police personnel injured.
Filed by Satish Kumar Agrawal, the PIL seeks a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into what it describes as a larger conspiracy involving organisations receiving foreign funding and certain political elements. The petition alleges the protest turned violent, disrupted public movement, damaged government and private property, targeted journalists, and included an attempt to breach Parliament’s security perimeter. It also claims several police personnel were injured during the violence.
The fresh PIL comes alongside another case before the Delhi High Court concerning allegations of excessive police force during the same protest. On July 22, the High Court issued notices to the Centre and the Delhi Police, directing them to respond within four weeks. The court also ordered the preservation of CCTV footage and body-camera recordings related to the protest. The next hearing in that matter has been scheduled for September 11.
