The Delhi High Court has sought the Centre’s response on a plea challenging the blocking of the Cockroach Janata Party’s X account in India.
May 29, 2026: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to the Centre on a petition filed by Abhijeet Deepke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), challenging the government’s decision to block the party’s X account in India.
According to the petition, the social media handle on X, formerly known as Twitter, was withheld in India following directions issued by the Central government on grounds of national security. The plea questioned the legality of the action and sought restoration of the account.
During the hearing, the Delhi High Court asked the Centre to file its response in the matter. However, the court did not pass any interim order for immediate restoration or unblocking of the X handle. Further proceedings in the case are expected in the coming days.
