Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan facilitated special arrangements for a critically injured NEET-UG aspirant
June 21, 2026: In a heartwarming gesture, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan helped a critically injured NEET-UG aspirant from Kolkata appear for the re-examination on Sunday. Shrishti Dubey, who suffered serious injuries in a road accident on June 14, was able to take the test at Binodini Girls High School in Dhakuria after special arrangements were made at the examination centre.
Following the minister’s intervention, authorities provided a separate examination room, medical assistance, and a standby ambulance. Pradhan also personally called Shrishti’s father, Shreeram Shiwji Dubey, before the exam to check on her condition and encourage the family. Her parents expressed gratitude, saying they had nearly lost hope that she would be able to appear for the examination after the accident.
According to her father, Shrishti suffered multiple injuries, including nine fractured ribs and severe lung damage, and underwent major surgery after being placed on life support. Special permission was sought to allow her to take the exam with medical support and essential equipment. Meanwhile, the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination was conducted across the country under strict security arrangements, with over 20 lakh candidates appearing after the original May 3 exam was cancelled due to alleged irregularities.
