A public clash between Mahua Moitra and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has exposed growing tensions within the Trinamool Congress

June 21, 2026: Political tensions within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have intensified after a public exchange between senior party leader Mahua Moitra and rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. The latest confrontation has highlighted internal divisions within the party, as both leaders openly challenged each other’s political standing and influence.

The dispute escalated after Moitra questioned the future prospects of rebel MPs, suggesting that the BJP was using them for political convenience. She argued that once key political objectives, including the proposed delimitation exercise, were achieved, these leaders would lose relevance and face difficulties securing electoral victories, whether under the TMC or BJP banner.

Responding sharply on social media platform X, Dastidar dismissed Moitra’s remarks as disconnected from reality. She claimed that the people of West Bengal had already rejected the political narrative promoted by sections of the TMC leadership and accused the party of being out of touch with public sentiment. Dastidar further asserted that voters were no longer influenced by such rhetoric, deepening the visible rift within the party.
