A 28-year-old student from Hyderabad was shot dead in Philadelphia while working a weekend delivery job

June 7, 2026: Anshul Kuncha, a 28-year-old student from Hyderabad, was shot dead in Philadelphia while working part-time as a pizza delivery executive. Anshul, who was pursuing a master’s degree at Temple University, had been living in the United States for nearly four years. According to his family, he received a delivery order on Saturday night and travelled to the specified address, only to be allegedly lured into a deadly trap.

Family members claim the delivery request was fake and designed to bring him to a deserted location. Reports cited by the family suggest that an unidentified gunman opened fire, shooting Anshul multiple times before fleeing the scene. Relatives said no belongings were stolen, raising questions about the motive behind the attack. They also referred to reports indicating that two masked individuals carrying backpacks were seen near the area around the time of the shooting.

The Consulate General of India in New York confirmed the incident and said it is coordinating with local authorities while extending assistance to the family. Anshul’s sister described him as a cheerful and caring person and called for swift justice. The family has also appealed for the early repatriation of his body to India so that final rites can be performed without delay.
