Indian Embassy in Tehran advises citizens to avoid non-essential travel, remain alert, and register with the mission amid lingering uncertainties.
June 24, 2026: India has renewed its travel advisory for Iran, urging citizens to avoid non-essential travel despite signs of improvement in the country’s security situation. In a fresh advisory issued on Wednesday, the Indian Embassy in Tehran said it has been closely monitoring developments and noted that overall conditions have improved in recent days. However, officials stressed that uncertainties remain and cautioned Indian nationals against unnecessary visits to Iran.
The embassy advised Indians currently residing in Iran, as well as those who must travel there for essential reasons, to exercise a high degree of caution. Citizens have been urged to stay vigilant, maintain situational awareness, follow updates from reliable sources, and comply with instructions issued by local authorities. The mission said safety remains its top priority and that the situation will continue to be monitored closely.
To ensure effective communication and assistance, the embassy has strongly encouraged all Indian nationals in Iran to register their details with the mission at the earliest opportunity. Officials said registration will help the embassy stay in contact with citizens and provide timely support and updates if circumstances change. Emergency contact details have also been shared for Indians requiring assistance while in the country.
