Main Accused Apprehended, One Victim Has TV Industry Links

Mumbai Police have busted a sex racket operating out of a hotel in Powai, rescuing four women, including one who has acted in Hindi television serials. The prime accused, identified as Shyam Sunder Arora, has been arrested for allegedly forcing women into prostitution.
Police Operation: How the Racket Was Busted
Acting on a tip-off, the Powai Police laid a trap at the hotel. Upon verifying the information, they raided the premises and found four women being forced into the trade.

“Following specific information, we conducted an operation and apprehended a man, identified as Shyam Sunder Arora. Four struggling female actors were rescued from the hotel,” an official stated.
The rescued women, reportedly aspiring actresses and models, were being lured under false promises of work in the entertainment industry.

Legal Action & Investigation Underway
A case has been registered under:
✔ Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – India’s new penal code
✔ Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act – Laws against human trafficking and prostitution
Authorities are now investigating potential links to larger networks involved in exploiting struggling actors.
Entertainment Industry & Exploitation
This isn’t the first case where aspiring actors have fallen prey to false promises in Mumbai’s entertainment industry. The city, a hub for Bollywood and television, has witnessed multiple cases where young talents struggle for work and become targets of exploitation.
Mumbai Police continue their efforts to crack down on such illegal networks and provide support to victims.
