NEET Row: Dharmendra Pradhan Says Government ‘100% Committed’ To Discussing Issue

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said the Centre is “100% committed” to discussing the ongoing NEET-UG controversy in Parliament, assuring students that the government remains focused on providing answers, reforms and accountability amid the nationwide debate over the examination.

Breaking his silence on the issue, Pradhan said students deserve certainty and transparency rather than political confrontation, adding that the government is prepared to address every genuine concern related to the medical entrance examination.

‘Students Deserve Answers, Reforms and Accountability’

In a post on social media platform X, Pradhan reiterated the government’s commitment to discussing the issue on the floor of the House.

“Our Government remains 100% committed to discussing NEET and addressing every genuine concern of our youth on the floor of the House. The students of India deserve far better than being treated as props in a political campaign. They deserve certainty over chaos, solutions over slogans and responsibility over disruption.”

The Union Minister also stressed that the government’s priority is to restore students’ confidence through meaningful action rather than political rhetoric.

“We owe our students more than outrage. We owe them answers, reforms and accountability. That is exactly what our government remains committed to delivering,” he added.

Pradhan Targets Congress Over NEET Protests

Alongside his assurance to students, Pradhan criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, accusing them of using students as “political tools” during the protests surrounding the alleged NEET paper leak.

His remarks came just hours after Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several opposition leaders, staged a sit-in protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence at Lok Kalyan Marg.

The Opposition has been demanding Pradhan’s resignation, holding him accountable for the controversy surrounding the conduct of the NEET examination.

Opposition Intensifies Pressure on Government

The NEET row has emerged as one of the major political flashpoints, with opposition parties continuing to question the government’s handling of the examination following allegations of irregularities and a paper leak.

The protests have intensified in recent weeks, with student organisations and political parties demanding greater accountability, transparency and reforms in the examination process.

The Centre, however, has maintained that investigations are underway and that appropriate action is being taken against those responsible.

PM Modi Promises Strict Action Against Paper Leak Accused

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the controversy, describing examination paper leaks as a “grave sin” and assuring students that the government would not allow anyone to jeopardise their future.

Referring to the ongoing investigation into the alleged irregularities, the Prime Minister said strict action had already been initiated against those involved.

He asserted that the government remains committed to protecting the interests of students and ensuring that those responsible for compromising the integrity of competitive examinations are held accountable.

Government Signals Focus on Reform

With Dharmendra Pradhan’s latest statement, the Centre has indicated that it is prepared to discuss the NEET issue extensively in Parliament while also pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening the examination system.

As investigations into the alleged paper leak continue and political tensions remain high, students across the country await further clarity on the government’s proposed measures to improve transparency, accountability and trust in one of India’s most important entrance examinations.
