CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke urged Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, saying his life is too valuable to risk further

July 22, 2026: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday appealed to activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his prolonged hunger strike, stating that the country needs his leadership and that his health should not be put at further risk. Wangchuk is currently receiving medical treatment after his extended fast, while discussions between the Centre and CJP leaders over the students’ demands continue.

In a post on X, Dipke made an emotional appeal, urging Wangchuk to prioritise his health. “We request @Wangchuk66 sir to end his hunger strike. The country needs him, and his life is far too precious to be put at further risk,” he wrote. The statement marks the first public request from the CJP founder asking Wangchuk to end his indefinite fast.

Despite the appeal, Dipke clarified that the movement itself would continue. He said the peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar would remain in place until the group’s demands are fulfilled. His appeal comes as the Centre continues negotiations with CJP representatives, with both sides expressing willingness to pursue dialogue while discussions over the key issues remain ongoing.
