Party workers protest as opposition RJD claims BJP is pushing the Bihar CM out of state politics
March 6, 2026: The decision of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to enter the Rajya Sabha has triggered political turmoil within the Janata Dal (United). Reports suggest protests and demonstrations by party workers at several locations, with many urging the leadership to reconsider the move. Party insiders say the decision has created uncertainty among supporters and raised questions about the future leadership of the party.
Amid the growing unrest, JD(U) chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar acknowledged concerns raised by workers, stating that their voices must be heard since they built the party. He said the mandate secured by the National Democratic Alliance in Bihar was largely based on Nitish Kumar’s leadership, and the decision to move to the Rajya Sabha has created mistrust among workers and voters. He added that clarity is also needed on who will carry forward Kumar’s political legacy.
Meanwhile, the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal targeted the NDA government over the issue. RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is attempting to push Nitish Kumar to the Rajya Sabha to install its own chief minister in Bihar. Kumar has already filed his nomination, and according to the election schedule, candidates can withdraw their nominations until March 9.
