The Punjab government said more than 33 lakh eligible women have already received financial assistance under the Mukh Mantri Maawan Dhian Satkar Yojana.
July 19, 2026: More than half of the women receiving financial assistance under the Punjab government’s Mukh Mantri Maawan Dhian Satkar Yojana belong to the 36–59 age group, according to beneficiary data released by the state. Women aged 36–45 account for 25.2 per cent of beneficiaries, while those between 46 and 59 years make up 25.4 per cent, together representing over half of all recipients under the scheme.
The Punjab government said more than 33 lakh eligible women who completed registration by June 25 have already received financial assistance directly in their bank accounts. The remaining eligible beneficiaries are expected to receive the amount on August 1. Officials added that nearly 70 lakh women have registered under the scheme so far, with the government attributing the high participation of women in the 36–59 age group to increasing family responsibilities such as children’s education, healthcare and household expenses.
Several beneficiaries said the financial support had helped them meet essential expenses. Sunita Rani from Fazilka said she used the assistance to pay her son’s school fees, while Ferozepur resident Paccho spent the money on medical treatment and household needs. Karamjit Kaur used the funds to buy spectacles and fuel for her scooter, and Preeti, a domestic worker, said the assistance helped cover her children’s education expenses. According to the government, the scheme provides monthly direct benefit transfers to eligible women, with most beneficiaries using the funds for education, healthcare and daily household expenditure.
