Petrol pump dealers in Rajasthan have announced a statewide strike from June 1, citing rising operational costs

May 27, 2026: Petrol pump dealers in Rajasthan have warned of a statewide shutdown on June 1 if their demands are not addressed by the government and oil companies. The Petroleum Dealers Association said rising operational expenses, declining sales, and high fuel prices have pushed many fuel station operators into financial distress. The proposed strike has raised concerns over possible disruption to transport services and daily life across the state.

Fuel dealers claimed petrol and diesel prices in Rajasthan remain higher than neighbouring states due to increased VAT imposed by the state government. According to operators, customers in border districts are increasingly purchasing fuel from nearby states where prices are lower, affecting business at Rajasthan fuel stations. Dealers also accused oil companies of irregular fuel supply, saying shortages in several areas have caused long queues and public inconvenience.

The association has written to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara, demanding immediate intervention. Dealers have given the government a four-day ultimatum, warning that petrol pumps across the state may remain shut if no solution is reached. They are also demanding a reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel, arguing that lower fuel prices would benefit consumers and support economic activity across Rajasthan.
