Supreme Court to hear three petitions seeking an independent probe, forensic audit and greater transparency
July 10, 2026: The Supreme Court is set to hear three petitions on July 13 seeking an investigation into the alleged theft of devotees’ donations at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana will hear the matter. The petitions have been filed by advocate Narendra Kumar Goswami, advocate Ajay Kumar Rai and RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, who have demanded a CBI probe and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The petitioners have also requested the court to appoint an expert committee to examine the management of donations received by the Ram Temple trust. In addition, they have sought a forensic audit by an independent agency and asked for real-time public disclosure of temple donations through the trust’s official website to improve transparency and accountability.
The petitions argue that the issue concerns the faith and sentiments of millions of devotees and therefore requires judicial intervention. They also seek directions declaring all offerings made by devotees as the property of the sacred trust and ensuring proper management of temple funds. The Supreme Court’s hearing is expected to determine whether it will order an independent investigation and consider reforms in the handling of temple donations.
