The Special Investigation Team has submitted its preliminary findings on alleged irregularities in Ram Temple donations
June 23, 2026: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate allegations of embezzlement involving devotees’ offerings at the Ram Temple has submitted its preliminary report to the state administration. The three-member panel handed over its findings to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad after completing a week-long inquiry into alleged irregularities in donation management and financial operations. The probe was launched following allegations of theft and misappropriation of temple offerings.
According to sources, the SIT has recommended a comprehensive restructuring of the temple trust and proposed the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee temple administration. The suggested model is reportedly inspired by the management framework of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and aims to improve transparency, accountability and operational efficiency in temple affairs. The report is expected to be reviewed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath before any further decisions are taken.
During the investigation, the SIT examined donation collection systems, counting procedures, financial records and banking operations linked to temple funds. Investigators also reviewed the functioning of personnel responsible for handling donations and recorded statements from nearly 150 individuals connected to temple administration. Sources indicate that several procedural lapses were identified, and the recommendations are intended to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and safeguard devotees’ contributions through enhanced financial oversight.
