Responding to growing political speculation, TMC leaders described the claims as “baseless” and said there were no discussions underway regarding any merger between the two parties.
The clarification comes amid attention surrounding recent meetings between Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and TMC leaders Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. According to the TMC, these interactions should not be viewed as negotiations or discussions related to a political merger.
