June 1, 2026: Fresh political turmoil has surfaced within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha were expelled from the party. The decision has sparked controversy, with Saha publicly challenging the party’s internal processes and raising concerns over alleged irregularities in official documents related to the selection of the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
Following his expulsion, Saha claimed that the names and signatures of individuals who were allegedly not present at a crucial meeting were included in a proposal submitted by the party.
