The Press Information Bureau has dismissed viral social media claims alleging that Chinese troops entered 60 kilometres into Arunachal Pradesh
July 8, 2026: The Indian government has dismissed a viral social media claim alleging that Chinese troops entered 60 kilometres inside Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified that the videos circulating online have no connection with the India-China border and described the claim as fake.
The viral posts alleged that soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had advanced into the Taksing area of Upper Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh and established new camps. The claim quickly gained attention on social media, raising concerns due to the sensitivity of border-related issues between India and China.
Rejecting the reports, the PIB urged people not to believe or share unverified content circulating on social media. The government reiterated that the videos being shared were misleading and unrelated to the actual situation along the India-China border, calling on the public to rely only on official sources for information.
