Dr Archana Gupta has become only the second woman to head the BJP’s Haryana unit

May 29, 2026: Dr Archana Gupta was appointed president of the BJP’s Haryana unit on Thursday, becoming only the second woman to lead the party in the state. The announcement was made through notifications issued by BJP general secretary Arun Singh, while the party also named new state unit chiefs for Delhi, Punjab and Tripura. Gupta succeeds in a role that has seen very few women leaders since the party’s expansion in Haryana.

A radiologist by profession, Gupta completed her MD in radiology from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in 1994 and currently runs a diagnostic centre in Panipat. Originally from Atta village in Panipat district, she has been associated with the BJP and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad for several years. She previously served as district president of the BJP Mahila Morcha and later became BJP’s first woman district president in Panipat in 2020 before being elevated as state general secretary in 2024.

Following her appointment, Gupta thanked the party leadership and described the decision as a tribute to every woman contributing to nation-building and social upliftment. She said she would work to strengthen the organisation by taking all workers together under the BJP’s ideology and policies. Nayab Singh Saini congratulated her and expressed confidence that the party would achieve greater success under her leadership in Haryana.
