India sharply reacted to reports of China providing technical support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor
May 12, 2026: India on Tuesday strongly criticised reports that China provided technical support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, saying countries attempting to protect terror infrastructure must reflect on how such actions affect their international standing. Addressing a media briefing in New Delhi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the global community closely watches how major powers position themselves on issues linked to terrorism and regional security.
Jaiswal described Operation Sindoor as a “precise, targeted and calibrated” counter-terror operation launched after the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. He said the operation specifically targeted state-sponsored terror infrastructure operating from Pakistan. India recently marked the first anniversary of the military action, which lasted nearly 88 hours and involved coordinated strikes across multiple domains.
The remarks came after Chinese state media reportedly confirmed that Beijing had provided on-site technical assistance to Pakistan during the four-day conflict with India last year. Chinese broadcaster CCTV aired an interview with engineer Zhang Heng from the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), who reportedly assisted Pakistan during the conflict. Pakistan’s air force operates Chinese-made J-10CE fighter jets developed by AVIC subsidiaries, further drawing attention to China’s role during the military engagement.
