February 2, 2025: The Indian Women’s U19 cricket team has made history once again, winning the prestigious U19 T20 World Cup 2025 for the second consecutive time. In a thrilling final at Bayuemas Oval, India triumphed over South Africa with a dominant 9-wicket victory, showcasing their immense talent and resilience.
In what was a battle of unbeaten sides, India’s all-around performance was nothing short of exceptional. South Africa, who were put in to bat first, were restricted to a mere 82 runs, thanks to brilliant bowling from the Indian side. The Indian bowlers laid a strong foundation, keeping the South African batters under control. In reply, India’s top order remained steady, chasing down the target in just 12.2 overs with eight overs to spare. Gongadi Trisha (44*) and Sanika Chalke (26*) led India to the win in a clinical fashion, with Trisha also named Player of the Match and Player of the Series for her outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

The cricket fraternity was quick to shower praise on the Indian team for their stellar performance. Top wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant took to X, calling the victory an “incredible achievement.” He congratulated the team for their success, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
Taking to X, PM Modi congratulated Team India for their victory and said that he is proud of the “Nari Shakti”. PM Modi also sent his best wishes to the team for their future endeavours.

This victory is the result of our excellent teamwork as well as determination and grit. It will inspire several upcoming athletes. Former cricketer Irfan Pathan also congratulated the team, expressing his pride in their remarkable performance.
“India wins… Congratulations to the Women’s India U-19 team for winning the World Cup,” Pathan shared on X.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also took to social media, highlighting the significance of the win. The BCCI praised the Indian team’s talent and consistency, noting that this second consecutive title speaks volumes about the depth of talent in Indian cricket. They also highlighted initiatives such as pay parity, the TATA WPL, and a strong age-group structure that have contributed to the growth of women’s cricket in India.
