England defeated India in the fourth T20 International after comfortably chasing 159 runs, securing the series with a dominant batting performance. Despite an outstanding unbeaten knock from Shreyas Iyer, India’s bowlers and fielders failed to defend the target as Harry Brook and Phil Salt guided the hosts to victory.

The win highlighted England’s strong batting display, while India struggled with poor bowling discipline and costly fielding mistakes throughout the chase.
Arshdeep Singh Gives India Early Breakthrough
India made a promising start after Arshdeep Singh dismissed England opener Jos Buttler in the early stages of the innings.
For the first two overs, the visitors kept England under pressure. However, the momentum quickly shifted as captain Harry Brook launched an aggressive counterattack.
At the other end, Phil Salt provided excellent support, and together they took control of the run chase with positive stroke play.
India’s Bowling and Fielding Let the Team Down
India’s performance in the field proved to be the biggest concern.
The bowlers repeatedly conceded no-balls and wides, allowing England to score easy runs. Moreover, fielding errors gave the batters additional opportunities, making the chase much easier.
As England moved closer to the target, India struggled to build pressure. In the final moments, the visitors even kept the field spread out, allowing England to take a comfortable single when only one run was required for victory.
Shreyas Iyer Leads India’s Batting Effort
Earlier in the match, Shreyas Iyer produced a captain’s knock with an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls.
After describing India’s performance in the previous T20I as “atrocious,” Iyer responded with the bat and anchored the innings under difficult conditions.
However, he received very little support from the rest of the batting lineup.
Indian Batters Continue to Struggle Against Short Balls
India’s top order once again found it difficult to handle short-pitched bowling.
Young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma all lost their wickets while attempting pull shots.
Sooryavanshi fell to Jofra Archer, while Kishan was dismissed by Josh Tongue. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma miscued a pull shot against leg-spinner Adil Rashid, adding to India’s disappointing start.
The repeated dismissals exposed India’s continuing weakness against the short ball during the series.
Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube Rebuild the Innings
Following the early wickets, Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube steadied the innings with a valuable partnership.
Instead of attacking from the start, the pair focused on rebuilding the innings and avoiding another collapse.
Eventually, Dube looked to accelerate the scoring but lost his wicket while attempting a big shot. Nevertheless, Iyer remained unbeaten until the end and guided India to 158/7 in their 20 overs.
Although the total gave India something to defend, England’s confident batting display proved too strong on the day.
