Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have officially signed Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka for the remainder of the IPL 2026 season. The 25-year-old joins the “Orange Army” as an injury replacement for England’s Brydon Carse, who has been ruled out of the tournament.
According to a release from the IPL on Tuesday evening, Madushanka has been secured for his base price of ₹75 lakh.

Strengthening the Bowling Roster
Madushanka, who was Sri Lanka’s standout performer during the 2023 ODI World Cup, brings a potent new-ball threat to the SRH lineup. While he was previously with Mumbai Indians, an injury sidelined him for the 2024 season. He arrives at SRH with a solid T20 record, having claimed 61 wickets in 63 matches.
SRH’s Injury Woes Continue
The signing of Madushanka marks the second major injury replacement for the Hyderabad franchise this season:
- Brydon Carse: Sustained an injury prior to the season opener on March 28 and failed to feature in any of SRH’s first five games.
- Jack Edwards: The Australian all-rounder was also ruled out earlier in the season.
- David Payne: Brought in to replace Edwards, Payne made a promising debut with two wickets against RCB but was sidelined following a difficult outing against KKR.
Current Squad Dynamics
The inclusion of Madushanka provides SRH with a tactical alternative to their current pace battery. His ability to swing the ball early on will be a valuable asset as SRH looks to climb the points table following their recent 57-run victory over Rajasthan Royals.
