Senior South Africa batter David Miller has said the Delhi Capitals squad remains fully united despite a difficult phase in IPL 2026, insisting there is no finger-pointing within the camp as the team fights to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Delhi Capitals now face a must-win situation in the tournament and need victories in all four of their remaining league matches to stay in contention for a place in the playoffs.
Ahead of the crucial clash against Kolkata Knight Riders, Miller stressed that the team has consciously maintained togetherness despite suffering from batting collapses, missed chances in the field and inconsistent performances.
“We are in a position where we have spoken that it is all of us together. Win or lose, we are together,” Miller said.
“And there is no pointing fingers at all with what we have done. We are all in it together,” he added.
Delhi Capitals Face Do-Or-Die Situation
With the playoff equation becoming increasingly straightforward, Miller admitted the team understands the magnitude of the challenge ahead.
“The reality is we have got four games to win. So if we do that, then we are putting ourselves in a good position,” he said.
Despite Delhi’s inconsistent results, Miller believes the team has not played poor cricket overall and has instead failed in key moments during matches.
“I do not think we have been playing bad cricket at all. We have been playing really good cricket, but there are just moments in the game where we have kind of let ourselves down as a team in certain areas,” he explained.
Batting Collapses Hurt Delhi’s Campaign
Miller pointed to Delhi’s tendency to lose wickets in clusters as one of the biggest reasons behind the team’s struggles this season.
“The games that we have not done too well, we have lost wickets in clusters – two, three, four wickets quite closely,” Miller observed.
The experienced batter also admitted that the team’s fielding standards have hurt them at important moments during the tournament.
“And then there are moments here and there where we have dropped a couple of catches that potentially could have changed the outcome of the game,” he said.
Miller Opens Up On Limited Opportunities
The South African star also addressed his own stop-start season and limited appearances in the playing XI, saying the overseas-player restrictions in the IPL make team combinations difficult.
“Not being able to play, obviously it is frustrating as a player. You always want to play every game, but such is the IPL – the structure of it with only four overseas players – the combinations become really important for the team,” Miller explained.
T20 Batting Has Reached Another Level
Speaking about the evolution of modern T20 cricket, Miller said batters across the world are now operating with far more fearless intent from the very first ball.
“The mindset and mentality of batters nowadays has definitely gone to another level,” he noted.
At the same time, Miller emphasised the importance of sticking to individual strengths despite the changing demands of the format.
“For someone like me, it is just about making sure that my skills and strengths remain really strong,” he added.
Miller Praises Kuldeep Yadav Despite Lean Patch
Miller also reserved special praise for India spinner Kuldeep Yadav, describing him as a genuine match-winner despite his recent struggles.
“With someone like Kuldeep, I have always played against him and I do not like facing him,” Miller said.
“He is a great character and for me it is important to have those kinds of players continually playing because he is a match-winner.”
Focus Firmly On Final Four Matches
As the IPL league stage enters its decisive phase, Miller said Delhi Capitals are now concentrating only on the opportunities ahead rather than dwelling on earlier setbacks.
“Whatever has happened in the last ten games, we are taking the positives from that. But the next four games are huge,” he signed off.
