Indian left-arm spinner Manav Suthar achieved a major career milestone after receiving his first Test cap ahead of India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

The cap was presented by fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav, making Suthar the 319th player to represent India in Test cricket.

The debut is particularly significant because he becomes the first specialist spinner to make his Test debut for India since Axar Patel debuted in 2021.

Reward for Outstanding Domestic Performances

Suthar’s selection comes after several seasons of consistent performances in domestic cricket.

The combination signals India’s focus on building depth in its spin resources ahead of future Test assignments.
