Damayanti, a resident of Umacharan Bhattacharjee Lane in central Howrah, had recently been selected for the national shooting team trials and was regarded as one of the state’s promising young shooters.
According to her family, she left home on Thursday afternoon to buy household items but never returned. After searching for her among friends, relatives and fellow shooters without success, her parents filed a missing person’s complaint at the local police station.
Last Seen at Howrah Station
Police said CCTV footage has confirmed that Damayanti was last seen at Howrah Station, moving between Platforms 4 and 5 on Thursday. Investigators are now trying to trace her movements after the footage was recorded.
Officials said she was carrying her mobile phone when she left home, and efforts are underway to analyse available evidence and establish her whereabouts.
Family Says There Were No Signs of Trouble
Damayanti’s parents told investigators that she maintained a disciplined routine centred around her shooting career.
Following her selection for the national trials, she reportedly woke up early every day to attend practice sessions. Her family also said there had been no recent disagreements or disputes at home that could explain her disappearance.
Mother’s Appeal on Social Media
As the search intensified, Damayanti’s mother issued an emotional appeal on social media, urging people to help locate her daughter.
“Today at 10 o’clock in the morning, on platforms number 4 and 5 of Howrah station, my daughter Damyanti Sen was seen for the last time. Since then, she cannot be found anymore. She was wearing a pink colored half t-shirt and half pants. If any kind-hearted person can find him or knows any information about him, please contact the following number immediately.”

Police Continue Investigation
By Friday morning, the teenager had still not been traced.
Police said the missing person’s case is being treated with priority, while family members, neighbours and fellow shooters continue to hope for her safe return.
Investigators are examining all possible leads as the search for the young athlete continues.
