The high-profile investigation into the death of actor-model Twisha Sharma has taken a major turn. Her husband, Samarth Singh, who was recently taken into police custody following a ten-day run from law enforcement, has made significant claims during his initial interrogation. According to police sources citing a report, Samarth stated that the couple had an intense argument regarding a planned vacation to Ajmer, Rajasthan, just hours before Twisha was found dead.

Twisha Sharma, a former Miss Pune originally from Noida, was found hanging at her marital residence in Bhopal on the night of May 12, 2026. Her marriage to Samarth Singh, a Bhopal-based lawyer, had taken place only five months prior, in December 2025. Law enforcement officials noted that interrogation reports indicate arguments had become a frequent fixture in the couple’s brief marriage, with domestic tensions mounting steadily in the weeks leading up to the tragedy.

A Contradiction in Statements: Samarth Singh allegedly told investigators that Twisha’s behavior shifted noticeability after her pregnancy was confirmed on April 17. However, his interrogation statements contrast sharply with earlier findings, which suggested she faced severe emotional distress over intrusive and repetitive questioning regarding her unborn child’s father.

AIIMS Delhi Team Deployed for Crucial Second Autopsy

As Samarth’s statements are being cross-verified, the physical evidence is undergoing intense, independent scrutiny. Acting on explicit directions from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, a specialized medical board from AIIMS Delhi arrived in Bhopal on Saturday. The board, composed of four senior forensic experts, has been tasked with conducting a second post-mortem examination to clear the air surrounding the cause of death.

The decision for a second autopsy comes after continuous protests and legal interventions led by Twisha’s family, including her brother, Major Harshit Sharma, an officer in the Indian Army. The family has openly rejected initial suicide claims, leveling serious allegations of murder and dowry harassment against Samarth and his mother, Giribala Singh—a high-profile retired judge and the current Bhopal Consumer Court chairperson.

Allegations of Loopholes and Family Backlash

The case has triggered widespread public outrage in Madhya Pradesh, prompting Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to meet with the victim’s family, following which the state government officially recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. Major Harshit Sharma has publicly accused Samarth of exploiting his legal background and his mother’s institutional influence to manipulate early evidence and create procedural loopholes.

The timeline of the fateful night further complicates the defense’s claims. Phone records indicate Twisha called her mother at 10:05 PM to report extreme domestic harassment, abruptly cutting the call when Samarth entered her room. By 10:20 PM, the family was informed she had stopped breathing. Despite the hospital being a short distance away, she was pronounced dead on arrival much later in the evening, leading the family to allege that medical attention was deliberately delayed. Bhopal Police are currently seeking a multi-day custodial remand for Samarth to piece together the events of May 12.
