Washington: Donald Trump has expressed optimism about a potential agreement with Iran that could involve Tehran transferring its highly enriched uranium to the United States.

Speaking to PBS, Trump suggested that a deal could materialise before his scheduled visit to China on May 14–15.

“Good Chance Of A Deal”

When asked about the likelihood of reaching an agreement, Trump said,

“Yeah, I think so… we’ll see what happens. I think we’ll have a very good chance of making a deal again.”

However, he remained cautious, adding that previous negotiations had also appeared promising before falling through.

Uranium Transfer Proposal

Addressing speculation around Iran’s nuclear material, Trump made a definitive claim:

“No, not perhaps. It goes to the United States.”

The proposal, if realised, would mark a significant development in long-standing tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme.

No Role For Key Envoys

Trump also indicated that senior figures such as Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are unlikely to be involved in the negotiations.

Warning Of Military Action

While expressing hope for diplomacy, Trump issued a stark warning about the consequences of failure:

“If it doesn’t end, we have to go back to bombing… Very simple.”

He added that the conflict could still be resolved, reducing the need for further escalation.

Oil Prices And Global Impact

Trump suggested that a successful deal could impact global oil markets, noting that supply disruptions could ease if tensions decline.

“It’s going to be an oil rush,” he said, adding that prices could either drop quickly or remain uncertain.

Brent crude currently hovers around $100 per barrel—significantly lower than earlier projections of $300–$350 made by some analysts.

What Happens Next?

With diplomatic talks ongoing and a key international visit approaching, the coming days could prove crucial in determining whether a breakthrough agreement is achievable or tensions escalate further.
