March 12, 2025: Pakistan Train Crisis: Major Developments

In a dramatic overnight operation, Pakistani security forces rescued 104 hostages from the hijacked Jaffar Express, which was seized by armed rebels in Balochistan on Tuesday. The government confirmed the killing of 16 insurgents from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) during the rescue effort.

🔹 104 hostages freed, including men, women, and 15 children.
🔹 At least 16 BLA rebels killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces.
🔹 Several hostages still unaccounted for, as rebels retreat into the mountains.
🔹 The train driver was killed, and rebels blew up railway tracks to stop the train inside a tunnel.
🔹 Emergency desks set up at Quetta and Peshawar railway stations to assist worried families.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which claimed responsibility for the train hijack, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Pakistan’s military, demanding:

Release of Baloch political prisoners
Return of missing persons allegedly abducted by security forces

⚠ If their demands are not met, the BLA has threatened to execute 10 hostages and destroy the train completely.
