The post of national selector for India’s senior men’s squad is open to applications, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI constitution states that one selector will be chosen by the board from each zone (north, south, east, west, and central). The panel is led by the member with the most Test cap experience, and no selector may serve more than a total of five years (joining the junior and senior panels combined). In July 2022, the BCCI announced Ajit Agarkar, a former cricket player, as the Chairman of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee.
There are presently two Mumbai Cricket Association selectors on the panel, both of whom are representing the west. The national selectors are S Sharath (south), SS Das (east), Ajit Agarkar and Salil Ankola (west), and Subroto Banerjee (central). There isn’t a representative for the north zone as of yet. On January 25, applications may be submitted until 6:00 p.m. The shortlisted applicants will be contacted for in-person interviews for additional assessment following the application screening process. The candidates needed to have participated in at least seven Tests, thirty first-class games, ten ODIs, and twenty first-class matches in order to be eligible.
