Following Chennai Super Kings’ victory against the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024, Suresh Raina, the former Indian cricketer, was seen lending a helping hand to MS Dhoni, who appeared to be limping, as they made their way back to the team bus.
With 5121 runs under his belt in 255 matches, Dhoni is on the verge of surpassing AB de Villiers’ record of 5162 runs, positioning him as the sixth-highest run-scorer in IPL history if he can add 40 more runs to his tally this season.
In a video shared by CSK, Raina can be seen assisting Dhoni as they navigate the stairs while boarding the team bus after their triumph over the Mumbai Indians. The defending champions secured a 20-run victory in the 29th fixture of IPL 2024 on Sunday (April 14).
Raina, with 5528 runs in 205 matches, holds the fifth spot on the IPL run-scoring list. He boasts an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.73, with a best score of 100*.
Despite Rohit Sharma’s commendable second IPL century, a stellar four-wicket haul by Matheesha Pathirana restricted the Mumbai Indians to 186/6 in their 20 overs, leading to Chennai Super Kings’ triumph at Wankhede Stadium.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, CSK witnessed significant half-centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (69 off 40 balls) and Shivam Dube (66* off 38 balls), followed by a breathtaking hat-trick of massive sixes by MS Dhoni during the final over.
Dhoni’s explosive performance helped CSK conclude their innings with a formidable 206/4. In the chase, MI displayed a strong start, courtesy of Ishan Kishan (23 off 15 balls) and Rohit Sharma’s 70-run partnership, although it was insufficient to secure a win.
With this victory, CSK holds the third position with four wins and two losses, earning them eight points, while MI occupies the eighth spot with two wins and four losses, accumulating four points.
