He may just fill the void left by Irfan Khan saab in the years to come.” Directored by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, ’12th Fail’ centres on UPSC hopefuls and draws from personal experiences. It is based on the real-life hardships faced by millions of students who take the UPSC entrance exam.

It was an extremely difficult role. I had to get in shape and lighten my complexion.” Among those who have praised the movie are Anil Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Sanjay Dutt, Rishabh Shetty, and Kamal Haasan. When “12th Fail” debuted in theatres on October 27, it competed with Kangana Ranaut’s “Tejas.” Kangana’s upcoming film, “Emergency,” will be her first to be directed by herself.
