Mark Nicholas’s take on Newlands pitch for India’s 2nd Test: “It was a poor pitch but…”

Mark Nicholas, former England cricket player, talked about the Newlands pitch prepared for the second Test between India and South Africa.

Mark Nicholas, a famous commentator and former England cricket player, talked about the Newlands pitch prepared for the second Test between India and South Africa, which ended in just two days. The second Test saw India clinch an eight-wicket victory in the shortest red-ball cricket game. The International Cricket Council (ICC) deemed the pitch “unsatisfactory.”

Nicholas thought the pitch wasn’t very good, but the surprise result of the Test showed a new side of the game that showed that anything can happen in cricket. It didn’t really last two days; it did last 107 overs, which is one day and seventeen overs. Even though I didn’t like the pitch, I wouldn’t say it was bad. A good pitch, in my opinion. Before we think there is a set way to play a Test match, I think we should be careful. There are five days open for players, even though everyone says it should last five days. The game shouldn’t last long; sometimes people bowl or bat better than others, and it’s over in three or four days.

A source told ANI that Nicholas. “It’s crazy that a Test match ended in 107 overs; that’s the shortest test match ever, and that’s probably going too far.” The bowling was good, though, and Aiden Markram had an amazing game. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul also had great skill. I believe that cricket needs to be different from time to time to surprise and amuse us and to tell us that anything is possible. We shouldn’t take cricket for granted, and Nicholas said, “It doesn’t bother me that it only shows up once in a while with a game like that.” The India team for the T20I series against Afghanistan was revealed after the series was over. After more than a year away, Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play in a T20I for the first time in some time. He said, “If I were an Indian selector, I would answer that” when asked what he thought about picking experienced batters. They have me stumped.

The second season of SA20 League starts on Wednesday, and Nicholas will be one of the famous people who will be commentating at the games. Nicholas spoke about the competition and stated, “Well, I like it very much here I love the fact that six teams are equal and overseas players are coming in so I am really excited I think India’s influence on cricket is incredible and to bring that influence here is fabulous.”
