Orlando Bloom shares how he prepared himself for his travel-adventure show

Orlando Bloom, renowned for his roles in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, recently delved into the realm of extreme sports in his new travel-adventure series, ‘Orlando Bloom: To The Edge’, as per People magazine.

The series showcases him engaging in wingsuiting, free diving, and rock climbing. Bloom shared a memorable experience from climbing a rock formation known as Ancient Art in Moab, Utah, which culminated in a profound moment atop a peak the size of a “pizza box.”

“It still fills me with exhilaration,” Bloom recounted to People about reaching the summit. “It felt like a lightning rod with a bolt going straight through me — so connected.”

The actor, who has faced significant physical challenges, including a near-fatal fall in his twenties that could have left him unable to walk, described the intense emotions tied to this feat. “The sort of fear and terror of standing up on a pizza box with a 400-foot drop all around you and having put my body through this extreme torture to get there,” he explained, “it was a combination of elements that was so real.”

Throughout the series, Bloom is aided by experts including Maureen “Mo” Beck, an adaptive climber who helped him achieve his climbing goals. “It helped me stay centered and focused,” said Bloom of his spiritual practice during these intense moments. “It was full of tears, terror, gratitude moment that I think I’ll be able to look back on.”

He also worked with other professionals like Luke Aikins for skydiving, and Camila Jaber and Will Trubridge for diving, absorbing valuable lessons along the way. “The education that was being given to me by these experts—it got me focused,” he acknowledged.

By embracing these perilous activities, Bloom learned to trust the process and remain present in the moment. “Putting myself in these extreme situations,” he noted, “was a valuable lesson of becoming more capable, trusting the process and being present,” as reported by People. This series not only pushed his physical limits but also provided an enriching educational experience through the guidance of seasoned professionals in various extreme sports.
