AUS vs PAK, 3rd Test: Australia at 116/2 at end of second session at Sydney

AUS vs PAK, 3rd Test: Just before the second session came to an end, Australia’s Usman Khawaja was dismissed by Aamer Jamal, leaving the team at 116/2 on day two of the third and final Test match against Pakistan at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Thursday. Australia was 116/2 at Tea, with Steve Smith (6) and Marnus Labuschagne (23) undefeated. Australia led 78/1 at the beginning of the second session thanks to wins from Usman Khawaja (35) and Marnus Labuschagne (3). Instead of taking any chances against the bowlers from Pakistan, Khawaja and Labuschagne mostly relied on strike rotation. In 38.4 overs, Australia reached the 100-run milestone.

Khawaja appeared to be heading towards his half-century, but his 143-ball, 47-run innings ended when Mohammed Rizwan caught him behind, and Aamer Jaamal took the wicket. Australia scored 108/2. Australia was led by Steve Smith and Labuschagne through the remainder of the session, which was cut short by poor lighting. In the first session, Khawaja and David Warner shared an opening stand of 78 runs during Warner’s final Test match. Warner scored four boundaries and was out for 34 off of 68 balls. Quick Scores: Pakistan: 313 (Mohammed Rizwan 88, Aamer Jamal 82, Pat Cummins 5/61) leads Australia: 116/2 (Usman Khawaja 47, David Warner 34, Agha Salman 1/18) by 197 runs.
